Skylar Davis is a conceptual portrait photographer based out of Richmond, KY. She received her Bachelors of Fine Arts with and Emphasis in Photography in 2012 from Eastern Kentucky University. While attending EKU, her passion for social issues, history, and photography came together and she began to work conceptually. Creating work that has an impact on the way people think about themselves or the world is what Skylar strives to do. Using her passion to further women artists Skylar Co-Founded the Women’s Art Collective of Kentucky in 2015. Currently, Skylar is working on a 6 year long series titled Brother. The series, which started when her brother was 10, shows how he has grown from a boy into a man. She plans on continuing the series for years to come and have them all printed on metal for gallery spaces. Skylar is also working on a series of portraits of women to showcase the natural beauty that a lot of women often overlook or use make up to “enhance”.
